Mobile Suit Gundam was first released 42 years ago (from the date this buildlog was published). To celebrate the 40th Anniversary of this incredible franchise, Bandai released a special edition of the very first Mobile Suit. The HG RX-78-2 Beyond Global.
The RX-78-2 was piloted by Amuro Ray, he is the main character of Mobile Suit Gundam and a supporting character in Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack.

This kit was purchased from our guys at Gundam Gateway.

The first thing I noticed when assembling this kit was the soft pastel colors of the runners. The colors are slightly muted compared to other RX-78-2 kits. It’s actually rather nice but very noticeable.

This kit was an absolute treat to build and a slight change of pace compared to the MG kits I’ve been building on our Twitch channel *be sure to drop a follow*
With HG kits, it also gives me a chance to practice panel-lining, yes I still need much more practice! Once this little guy is lined, I’ll post some pictures on our Instagram.
Now, the HG RX-78-2 Beyond Global. Would I recommend this kit? Absolutely! It was thoroughly enjoyable to build, easy on the wallet, and is actually ideal for people newish to the hobby.
